TROUBLED PORTUGAL

ANOTHER INSURRECTION BREWING NUMEROUS ARRESTS (By Telegraph.—Press Assn.—Copyright.) (Australian and N.Z. Cable Association). LISBON, October 2. (Received October 3, 8.10 p.m.) Numerous arrests have been made in connection with the revolutionary movement in October, 1921, including that of Captain Ramos, Minister of Marine under the revolutionary regime. The arrests have provoked widespread protest, though the origin of the popular feeling will more probably be found in the dissatisfaction of the army officers and State officials with the State subsidies. There is talk of a military insurrection. 'file postal and telegraphic workers have struck. Emergency orders have been issued to the military and naval commanders. Armed police are patrolling the city in armoured cars.
