1914'S FIRST BLOOD
H.M.S. LANCE’S HONOUR. / According to Admiralty records the first round fired from a gun of H.M.S. Lance on August 5, eight years ago, at 11 a.m., when the Lance, Landrill and Amphion sighted the German minelayer Konigin Luise and sank her at noon. The gun is preserved in the Imperial War Museum the Crystal Paiace, and has been decorated with a laurel wreath in honour of the fact that it drew- the first blood of the war.
