BANQUET AT OTAKI. (Per United Press Association.' LEVIN, October 2. A complimentary banquet was given, at Levin to-night to Mr W. H. Field, M.P., for Otaki, from which electorate the borough has been excluded. The Prime Minister was present. Many tributes were paid to Mr Field’s services. In the course of a speech Mr Massey stated, as Finance Minister, he hoped to pay into the Advances Department within a day or two the sum of £2,000,000. which he proposed u> lend at 5i per cent, on chattel securities in sums of £250 to £3OO to small Farmers to establish them on the land. He also stated that the Boards that were to enquire into the condition of the soldier settlements were set up in eleven districts, and in the one remaining would be set up in a few days and would be able to commence operations.
