CUSTOMS RETURNS
COLLECTIONS FOR. SEPTEMBER. The Customs revenue collected by the local Customs Office for last month shows a substantial decrease on the amount collected for the same month of last year, hut a comparison of the returns for the September quarter of each year discloses that the revenue collected in July and August of this year showed a very slight increase over last year. Th-? fact that the duty on beer has been practically doubled, , accounts fcr the great difference between this year’s and last year’s revenue from this source.
