A BERLIN COMEDY
PRISON OFFICIALS HOAXED. (By Telegraph—Press Assn. —Copyright.) BERLIN, August 10. (Received August 11, 8.30 p.m. ■ The latest imitator of the '’Cobbler of Koepeniek” held up a Black Maria full of prisoners in a Berlin streer, declaring himself to be police inspector and showing a badge on his coat lapeh He got up beside the driver, and when he reached the prison the officials there were equally decrived, obeying every order of the so-criied inspector, who toured the cells, ordered this prisoner a good meal and that one a better bed, and also that several others be liberated immediately. He next ordered the governor of the prison out of bed and reprimanded him severely for bad management. Before complete chaos was reached one of the gaolers closely scrutinised the badge and found it to be a political propaganda badge inscribed, “Remember Upper Silesia.” The man was arrested and proved to be a Beilin, tailor.
