TAXATION COMMITTEE
RESUMPTION OF SITTINGS. | (Special to the Times). WELLINGTON, May 22. The Taxation Committee will resume its sittings to-morrow with plenty of eager witnesses waiting to testify to the need for a radical revision of the present methods of collecting the country’s necessary revenue. The chairman, Mr W. D. Hunt, has been busy since the adjournment of a fortnight ago in the arrangement of the procedure and it will not be his fault if everyone interested in the inquiry is not given facilities for submitting evidence. Readjustment of the incidence of the income tax will probably be the chief subject. of the discussion, and already there is a mass of documentary evidence bearing cn this reform in the hands of the secretary.
Improvements in the methods of graduation and in the application of a company taation will be strongly urged.
