TYPHUS GERM ISOLATED

IMPORTANT MEDICAL DISCOVERY. (By Telegraph.—Press Assn. —Copyright) (Australian and N.Z. Cable Association) LONDON, May 21. Dr Writer Davenport, of the American Relief Administration, announces that Dr Kritch, woman director of the Sokolnichersky Hospital laboratory, has discovered tile typhus germ, isolating the coccus, which is disc- or biscuit-shaped, much like the pneumococcus. The typhus germ was found in the brain tissue and spleen of 150 cases of typhus an hour after death. The innoculation of guinea pigs invariably produced symptoms of typhus. It was hoped that a vaccine would develop from Dr Kritch’s discovery.
