SYDNEY THEOSOPHISTS

NOT A HAPPY FAMILY FALL OUT WITH MRS BESANT (By Telegraph.—Press Assn.—Copyright.) (Australian and N.Z. Cable Association.) SYDNEY, May 18. (Received May 18, 7.25 p.m.) The arrival of Mrs Besant has brought to a head trouble which, for a considerable time, has been brewing amongst the Byd ney Theosophists and the Liberal Catholic Church, whose membership is chiefly recruited from amongst Theosophists. Serious charges have been made regarding certain members of the Liberal Catholic Church and the staffs of its seif styled bishops. It is also a bone of convention that in some quarters their title is regarded as bogus. Mrs Besant attended a meeting at which the trouble was aired. After delivering an address on Theosophical doctrine, she said she deprecated the circulation by members of the Theosophical Society of statements regarding other members and the Liberal Catholic CZnurch. She added that in consequence of the treatment she had received at tjj.e hands of the executive, she would reprise to speak on the platform again until the executive was reconstituted. Till then, farewell! After Mrs Berant’a departure the meeting was noisy, her action being vigorously condemned by some sper&srs. Finally a motion was carried ami/d much dissent justifying, the position of “Bishop” Leadbeater, 'the Th’oaopMcal Society and as head trf k he Liberal Catholic Church. Th® meeting great disorder.
