The Shires Association conference in Sydney decided to ask the Federal Government to prohibit the importance of wax matches and permit the entry only of those strikable upon the preparation attached to the container. It is stated that many fires resulting in great damage have been caused in the country through the use of wax matches. It was also decided to seek to secure a proclamation that bees are a nuisance in urban areas. A conference of National country parties in, Brisbane reached an agreement to co-operate at the elections against the Labourites, electorates to be allocated to the National or Country candidates by mutual arrangement.
