By the death of Mr Andrew Neilson, of Mersey Street, Gore, which took place at his residence on Friday afternoon, a Gore resident c»f 45 years’ standing has joined the great majority at the ripe age of 91 years (states the Ensign). The late Mr Neilson was a native of Stockholm, Sweden, and at the early age of 10 years went to sea. He followed a seafaring fife between Sweden and England for several years. The captain of the ship took a keen interest in the bey, and what Uttle education he then obtained he received from the captain. The late Mr Neilson arrived in Victoria in the early 50’s, and took part in the Bal larat and Bendigo gold rushes. In the early 60’e he came to New Zealand, and started a waggon service between Dunedin, Lawrence and Roxburgh. Later on he took part in mining work, and in the early 70’s removed to Tapanui, where he carried on a cordial manufactory. About 1876 or early in 1877 he removed his cordial manufacturing plant to Gore, where he carried on business until 1912, at which date he retired. Mr Neilson had been in failing health for some time, and passed peacefully away sitting in his chair. He leaves a widow ar.d two sons, Robert and James (both of whom are married), and four daughters, Mesdames Brennan (Invercargill), Jensen (Taihape), and Misses Clara Afaai Neilson,
