BOARD OF AGRICULTURE
METHOD OF ELECTION. A. AND P. ASSOCIATION PROPOSAL (Per United Press Association.) CHRISTCHURCH, May 4. “The New Zealand Council of Agriculture as at present constituted to elect eight representatives on the Board of Agriculture, four representing the North Island and four representing the South Island, and the New Zealand Government to appoint two representatives and the Minister of Agriculture to be president of the Board. The Board of Agriculture to have full control of the policy, general administration, and officers of the present Department of Agriculture, and of agricultural education in general. The Board to meet at least four times a year to discuss the policy of the Department of Agriculture.” The above is the text of a remit drawn up by a special committee of the Canterbury A. and P. Association for discussion at the conference of the-Council of Agriculture to be held in Wellington in July. The committee considers the matter one of such importance that it proposes to enlist the support of all Agricultural and Pastoral Associations also farmers’ organisations in the Dominion. These are to be immediately circularised.
