P. AND T. OFFICERS
CONFERENCE OF DELEGATES DELIBERATIONS NOT CONCLUDED (Per United Press Association.) WELLINGTON, May 5. A general conference of representatives of the district sections of the Post and Telegraph Officers’ Association took place to-day to consider the situation created by the refusal of the Government to permit the Association to affiliate with the Alliance of Labour. The whole of the circumstances which led io the present position have been described from time to time. There was a full attendance of delegates. The business was entirely of a private nature, and at the conclusion of the day’s proceedings the secretary, Mr H. E. Combs, stated that there was nothing to announce to the press. The New Zealand Sheepowners’ Federation has received a letter from the Prime Minister expressing his appreciation of the support given to him by the Federation’s executive, in the course which he had taken in the dispute with the Post and Telegraph Officers’ Association. DECISION EXPECTED TO-DAY. (Special to the Times.) WELLINGTON, May 5. The general conference of the Post and Telegraph Officers expects to reach its decision on the question of affiliation to-mor-row morning. The indications are that the conference will not agree to abandon the affiliation proposal but will forward proposals that the Minister may or may not be prepared to discuss.
