VAGRANT VERSE
LILY, ROSE AND VIOLET (Written for the Southland Timet.) The lily in the loveliness Of her array Is pure as damozel in dress Prepared for bridal day. The rose, rich daughter of the sub. In beauty rare, Is gay as Queen from whom no out The palm can ever bear. The violet that shyly hides Herself from sight Is meek as maid whose fragrance hidet A well-spring of delight. The lily, rose, and violet Unite to give Their charms to thee, O Margaret, That they in thee may live. —Robert Francia. Bluff, May 5.
