THEFT OF RINGS
YOUNG MAN COMMITTED FOR TRIAL. (Per United Press Association.) WELLINGTON, May 3. George Bowden, a young man who said he arrived from Australia a few months ago, was to-day committed for trial on a charge of breaking and entering the premises of Blyth, a jeweller, at Petone, and stealing twenty rings valued at £l4O. The offences were committed last month. The evidence was that from what Pierre Kugener, a brother-in-law of accused, hail said, a search was made under the house where accused was staying. A number of rings wrapped in a scarf indentified as belonging to accused were found. Kugener’s sister said he was not at Petone on the night when Blyth’s shop was entered and the rings were stolen. It was stated that accused had endeavoured to dispose of the rings. Bowden strenuously denied havifig seen either the rings or the scarf before.
