CHARGES OF THEFT
COMPANY SECRETARY’S DEFALCATIONS. (Per United Press Association.) WELLINGTON, May 3. At the Magistrate’s Court today William Henry Polio ex, who some years ago was a leading athlete and was lately secretary of Nelson, Moats, Ltd., pleaded guilty to charges of theft of moneys of the firm totalling £927. It was stated during the evidence that tiie total amount misappropriated was £2,741. Pollock had control of practically the whole business of the company. The defalcations extended over a period of six or seven years. Accused had surrendered himself to the police as he desired to clear the matter up. He was committed to the Supreme Court for sentence. Bail in £5OO was allowed. MONEY AND BONDS STOLEN. DANNEVIRKE, May 3. Henry Alfred Marshall, alias James Fraser, pleaded guilty at the Magistrate’s Court to breaking, entering and theft of a cash box containing money, cheques and bonds of the total value of £236 12/2. He was committed to the Supreme Court for sentence. For the theft of two overcoats he received six months’ imprisonment.
