BETTER THAN OMAR
It would appear that the Shah of Persia, who is to visit Europe again for the sake of his health, has not a very exattea opinion of the great countryman, Omar Khayyam. So at any rate, Sir Mortimer Durand gathered. When Sir Mortimer was British Minister at Teheran he went to see the Shah with the request, conveyed for English Omarians, that something should be done for the better caretaking of the poet’s grave. But the Shah could not be impressed with thKneed for this. Persia, he declared, had lots of poets, and he himself was possibly a better poet than Omar.
