Cargoes are nominally unchanged, but there is an easier tendency owing to labour troubles. From American advices there is is no bidding to test the market. Parcels are very quiet. The spot trade is active. Australian due is quoted at 60/-. Flour is slow, Australian ex store is quoted at 47/% Barley is quiet; Australian Chevalier 48/- to 53/% Oats are easier. New Zealand landed is quoted at 37/-. Beans and peas are quiet, but firm. Sugar ie unchanged. Butter—Very firm, and In strong demand. Colonial salted and unsalted are fetching practically the same prices. and secondary is within a shilling of choicest. Quotations: Australian 176/- to 178/-, exceptionally good 180/-; New Zealand 1&8A to 190/-; Danish 205/- to 210/-. Cheese is firm, and trade is slow. New Zealand white 94/- to 96/-. Coloured is scarce, and is quoted at 98/- to 100/%. Australian white coloured 86/- to 88/% exceptionally gdbd 90/% At the wool sales 215,996 bales were offered and practically all were sold. The most striking feature was the German demand for Marinoa, which hardened consistently throughout. Faulty burry Merinos were somewhat irregular during the closing days, but the quotation is not materially altered. Bert combing all scoured, closed fully at the level of the highest January rates. Medium and lower met with wider and stronger demand and closed five to 7J per cent, aliove January rates. Scoured crosabr'iis and stipes were keenly competed for and show an advance of fully ten per cent. Lambs wool is in strong demand. Fine Merinos advanced ten per cent, and crossbreds and faulty Merinos five per cent. FOREIGN EXCHANGE.
