GUN ALLEY MURDER

HEARING OF APPEAL COMMENCED. VERACITY OF EVIDENCE ATTACKED. SYDNEY, Marell 28. (Received March 29, 5.5 p.m.) The High Court has commenced the hearing of the application by Ross for special leave to appeal against the sentence in connection with the Gun Alley murder on the ground that the decision of the Victorian Court of Criminal Appeal, in refusing appeal, was wrong in law. Counsel for Ross submitted that the confessions, on which Ross was convicted, were the result of a conspiracy as the woman Matthews was at daggers drawn with Ross.
