ORANGE CARNIVAL
THE CLOSING NIGHT. There was a very large attendance at the Orange Carnival yesterday. The gross proceeds of the effort have exceeded £1650 with some returns yet to come. The first prize for fancy costumes was awarded to the produce section, and* the first prize for best decorated stall to the plain and fancy section. Unclaimed prizes for competitions for Saturday and Monday:—Tobacco pouch, W. D. Henderson; classic book, G. Steele; fire screen, James Smith; travelling rug, C. Johnston; box tea, G. A. Hunter; cake stand, Miss A. Milne; trousseau, Mrs P. Swanson; aeroplane flight, V. Martin and V. Clode; slipper box, D. Luke; oak clock, S.DY.G.; dozen photos, H. M. Dykes; picture, Berry and Co.; Sunday dinner, Mrs Beadle; nightdress, Alice Chapman; doll No. 3, A. Mitchell; inlaid table, A. Rudolph; picture, Miss H. Smith; palm and stand, J. D. Strettell; 51b tea, S.D.P.; cake stand, C. Colyer; bath cabinet, Mrs Fleming. Prizes may be had between 9.30 and 4 p.m. today.
