PUBLIC ADVERTISING
TWO SUGGESTIONS. Yesterday Mr J. E. Winsloe, the Southland Xeague Secretary, mentioned to a Times representative two suggestions in regard to advertising Southland. One is that local business men should be supplied with stereos of a small map of the province (similar to that on the cover of the Southland league's annual report) to be used on the back of their envelopes. In view of the fact that in the north Southland is often confused with Otago in copnection with its area, such a scheme should serve as a valuable educator.
The other suggestion is that the League should secure a 10,000 feet cinematograph film showing the scenery, industries and sports of the province. This could. Mr ■Winsloe added, be paid for by local public presentations. It could then be sent through the country and exhibited gratis, being sent throughout the Empire. A copy would be kept in the League s offices so that visitors to Invercargill from a distance would be able to gain a good insight into the provincial activities before they started on their •ctual sight-seeing.
