ENGLISH MONEY MARKET. LONDON, June 18. (Received June 19, 5.5 p.m.) The South Australian loan is quoted at seven-eighths discount and Tasmanian at five-eighths. Financial circles are not surprised at the small public subscription as the gilt-edged market has been stagnant owing to the absence of the settlement of the coal strike. WOOL SALES. LONDON, January 18. (Received January 20, 1.20 a.m.) The wool sales closed firm. German and other continental centres competed very strongly throughout. Yorkshire buyers were more reserved. The opening prices for merinos were well maintained. Finer sorts closed with rather less competition, but medium combings and all pieces and bellies closed at the strongest level of the series, generally showing a ten per cent advance on May prices. All sorts of crossbreds met with a greatly improved demand throughout, fine grades closing at about 7 A per cent above May rates. Medium and lower grades were about May parity.
