ACCLIMATISATION
ANNUAL MEETING OF SOCIETY. The adjourned annual meeting of the Acclimatisation Society was held on Friday, the president IMr A. H. Stock) presiding over a good attendance. The following alterations of rules were adopted:— Membership:—The words “contributors within one year of £lO 10s or upwards shall be life members of the Society.” Subscription:—All license holders paying a license fee of 12s 6d or upwards shall be members of Society. Annual subscription for all other intending members excepting life members shall be L2s 6d. Annual meeting:—lf a quorum be not present the meeting shall be adjourned and should there be no quorum at the adjourned meeting those present shall proceed with the business. . The following committees were appointed: —Stock—Messrs G. I. Moffett, J. Gilkison, J. Collins, G. F. Strang, E. R. Stephens, J. M. Watson, R. McKenzie and W. J. P. Hodgkins; Finance—Messrs J. Robertson and N. E. Pattie. The stock committee’s report stated that traps have been put in at the Coalpit Creek and the Waimumu, but so far there has been no run of fish. The hatchery was in readiness for the coming season. All the paths round the dwelling have been cleaned and gravelled. Thirty Mallards had been liberated at Victoria Park and the Committee propose sending a stray duck which had come to the hatchery, to Mr McEwan, Gore, who iost one last season. The committee had received an application from Mr T. Telford, Balclutha for permission to catch twelve wekas at Stewart Island for liberation in a bush on his Otanomonu estate, and recommend that the Minister be asked for the necessary permission.—Adopted and recommendation agreed to.
