FIRES
OUTBREAK AT WELLINGTON. (Per United Press Association.) WELLINGTON, June 11. A fire occurred this afternoon in a wooden building at the corner of Bowen street and Lambton Quay, occupied by Smith, clothier. The fire broke out in the upper storey, which was let in separate rooms. The outbreak originated in a room occupied by Anderson, chiropodist which was completely gutted, the contents being destroyed. The brigade! soon got the flames under. The damage done to the other rooms was mostly by water. It is understood that the building and contents were insured. THE INSURANCES. WELLINGTON, June 12. Most of the damage was done to Anderson’s chiropodist rooms, and Smith’s and Mrs Norton’s stocks. The building w’as insured for £l5OO in the Commercial Union and Smith’s stock for £BOOO in the Standard.
