EDUCATION INSTITUTE

COLLECTION OF SUBSCRIPTIONS. (Per United Press Association.) WELLINGTON. May 18. The request of the Wellington branch of the New Zealand Educational Institute that the Education Board should collect subscriptions from members of the Institute among the teaching staff was renewed at to-day's meeting of the Education Board. It was pointed out that other boards in the Dominion collected subscriptions. An animated discussion ensued on the question of the abolition of Education Boards, it being stated that the Institute was in favour of their abolition. A point was made of the fact that it would be more economical if the Board collected the subscriptions. Eventually a motion declining the was carried on the casting vote of the chairman.
