GOLDEN JUBILEE FETE.

The Golden Jubilee Fete is drawing to a close but there is no indication that its popularity is diminishing and last night was one of the most successful experienced since the fete commenced. By the time the fete closes to-morrow night it is expected that the £1,500 mark will have been reached and for a function of its kind this must come near to constituting a record. At least it indicates excellent organisation and a wise provision for the entertainment of patrons. Last evening’s programme was no exception and all the items were thoroughly enjoyed. Miss Rene Ward, in a tiptoe dance, Misses Patterson and Halpin in a double jig and a double hornpipe and Miss Cavanagh in a clog dance were popular performers, while the Minstrels also delighted the audience. Messrs Bud and Arthur Wills contributed a cornet and trombone duet which was not the least popular item of an unusually attractive programme. The winners of last night’s shooting competitions were as follow: —Dressing jacket, M. Sparks, Mary Street; picture (Oliver Plunket), “Larry,” Appleby; camp oven loaf, Mrs J. Leonard; ladies silk dress and blouse, Joe Pascoe; parcel, Mrs W. J. Donaldson; ladies’ toilet box, O. Fogarty; box of cigars, M. Reidy; framed £1 note, Bert Officer; ham, J. Fogarty, Pomona Road; parcel, M. Brogan; walking stick, W. Baird, ;un., framed £1 note P. F. Kerr, Morton iMal.'a/ Um jii£>i‘Zr4sa, A, Thompson,

Leet Street: cheese, Pat Manning; pair of ducks, G. Simon. The fete, wul close to-night when another excellent programme is offered including a ragtime dance by Miss Rene Ward and a Dutch clog dance by Miss Cavanagh. At the close of the fete an auction sale will be conducted by two popular and well-known local auctioneers, when patrons should have an opportunity of purchasing many useful articles at bargain pricas.
