REPORTED ROUT OF PETLURA'S DIVISIONS. POLAND AND LITHUANIA. LEAGUE OF NATIONS’ REQUEST. (By Telegraph.—Press Assn.—Copyright.) (Australian and N.Z. Gable Association.) COPENHAGEN, November 17. Soviet newspapers claim that the Reds have annihilated three of General Petlura’s divisions. A message from Kovno states that the League of Nations has invited the Lithuanian Government to instruct the army to adopt a defensive attitude. A similar note has been sent to Poland asking the Government to influence Zelignowski to discontinue his attacks. The Lithuanian General Staff states that fierce fighting continues. Reval reports state that Pilsudski has conferred with General Petlura, and has reached important decisions regarding operations against the Soviet. PETLURA RETREATING. A SERIOUS SET BACK. WARSAW, November IS. (Received November IS, 10.20 p.m.) It is reported that Petlura’s Ukrainian army has had a bad setback and is retreating to the Dunojowo-Enkowca line. POLAND AGAIN THREATENED. LONDON, November 17. (Received November 10, 12.43 a.m.) Fresh Red onslaughts on Poland as the result of the Crimea success are considered not unlikely. The action of carrying oS men and women hostages from the evacuated territory' and forcing Polish prisoners of war to enter the Soviet army is regarded as significant. SEMENOFFS ARMY. DRIVEN INTO MANCHURIA. PEKIN, November 16. Official report? from Harbin state that General SemenofTs anti-Bolshevik forces in Siberia have been driven across the Manchurian border at Manchu-li. The Japanese commander warned the Bolshevists not to follow the routed army. The Japanese are rushing troops to Manchuli to enforce the warning.
