MENTAL PATIENTS DEATH. KICKED BY FELLOW INMATE. (Per United Press Association.) DUNEDIN, August 31. Mr Bartholomew, S.M.. conducted an inquiry m Seaoliff into the circumstances surrounding (he death of a male mental patient who dad of injuries inflicted by another patient in the fame ward. Dr Blair stated that deceased, who was 10 years of ape, was committed to the mental hospital 16 years ago, su fie ring from dement in. He was not usually violent, hut had a habit of putting his hand into other people's pockets. On Sunday witness was informed that the patient had been kicked by another and visited him in bed. He died yesterday ns a result of the injury. He was of opinion that deceased had died of general peritonitis, following rupture of the intestines. The other patient by whom the injuries were inflicted was in the -nine ward as the deceased man. and was periodically violent. 'The Coroner returned a verdict in accordance with the medical testimony, adding that, the patient who conimitte.fi the assault eould not be deonuxl responsible for his action.
