CLEARING SALE AT OTARA. Messrs Henderson and Co., Ltd., report; —On Friday last we conducted a successful sale of the whole of Mr J. A. McKenzie’s live stock anti fanning plant, and were fortunate in having gooa weather. There was a large attendance of buyers, bidding was spirited, and the whole of the lots were (disposed of at good prices. S.M. ewes made 40/3, f.m. ewes 29/6, forward steers £l4 to £l3, draught horses up to £42. Mr Robert Blair (who purchased the property) was fortunate in securing a considerable proportion of the dairy herd. The implements and sundry lots brought full rates. Those present appreciated Mr and Mrs McKenzie’s hospitality, and the luncheon and refreshments later in the afternoon were done full justice to. The following shows the principal lots sold; — Dairy cows, £25, £24 10/-, 2 at £23, 3 at £22 10/-, £2l. 4 at £2O, 2 at £l9 10/-, 2 at £l9, 3 at £lB, 2 at £l7 10/-, 4 at £l7, 3 at £l6 10/-, 3 at £l6. Cows and heifers—24 at from £ls 10/- to £ll, and 4 at from £lO 10/- to £9 10/-. Sheep—39 s.m. ewes at 40/3, 93 f.m. ewes at 29/6. Cattle- —12 forward bullocks at £l4, 59 3-year-old bullocks £l3, 75 2-year steers and heifers at £6 5, -, 31 breeding cows £4 10/-, 15 Hereford calves £2 15/-.

Horses —s-year coll £43, marcs £42, £4l, £39, £3O 10/-, £25, £2l ; geldings £25, £22, £2O; hacks, £l3 10/-, £l3. Waggon £lOl, plough £22, dray £ls, milk waggon £27, roller £ls, disc £l3, lime-sower £l2. A large quantity of sundries and furniture at good prices. CLEARING SALE AT MAKAREWA. The National Mortgage and Agency’ Co., Ltd., report having held a successful clearing sale of Mr A. M. Townsend’s pedigree Jersey herd at Makarewa yesterday. The herd brought keen competition, and was well-known throughout Southland, taking many rod tickets in Southland show rings. Mr Townsend had sold the larger part of his farm, and that compelled him to put his herd to auction. Buyers were present from all over Southland, and good prices were obtained. Sales were as follow: One cow to T. Fraser 21gns, 1 do. to T. Fraser 33gns, 1 do. to F. Clark 2figns, 1 do. to C. Dey 20gns. 1 do. to G. Baird 25gns, 1 do. C. McDonald 35gns, I do. P. The Bradford market is firm and there is moderate business; in lops, mostly foi prompt, delivery.
