A seven-year-old lau during the absence of his parents secured a ride from a shed and playfully pointing it at a four-year-old sister, pulled the trigger and shot her in the face, nearly the whole of her jaw being blown away and the child expiring when the doctor arrived. The father, who is a Native named Pohio, declares that no cartridges were in the rifle when he last had it.
