SCHOOL SPORT
MEETING OF THE ASSOCIATION. CONTROL OF NET-HALL. A meeting of the School Sports Association was held yesterday afternoon to consider the question of taking over control of net-ball in the primary schools. Mr J. Stevenson presided over a large attendance. The Net-ball Association was represented by Misses Harrington and Vyner. Miss Harrington stated that the Basketball Association, while aware of the aims of the School Sports Association, was not conversant with its constitution. The Association which she represented therefore communicated with the School Sports Association seeking further information. Since then the Basket Ball Association had been formed into the Net Bali Association and this game was now being played in the secondary schools, although basket-ball was still being played in the primary schools. Some of the teachers, who were members of the School Sports Association, .seemed keen on keeping to basket-ball, but it seemed to her that it would be a pity to give precedence to the old-fashioned game inj stead of introducing the more up-to-date game of net-ball into the schools. The chairman stated that the School Sports Association did not desire to take over control of any S[>ort without the itermission of the ruling body. He understood that the ruling body at present was the Net-ball Association, and the School Sports Association was open to consider its washes and take over control of this sport if it U desired. The Net-ball Association, in keeping with the constitution of the School Sports Association, would lie represented on the sub-committee which would be appointed to control the game in the primary schools. After a little further discussion, Mr Stevens moved that the Net-ball Association bo thanked for approaching the School Sports Association, ami that in accordance with its wishes the School Sports Association would lake over control of net-ball in the primary schools. Tile motion was seconded and carried, and a sub-commiltce was appointed to draw up rules.
