The Prime Minister has written to th» secretary of the banners Union as follows: —“Regarding (he export of potatoes, I have been for some little time past in cable communication with the Prime Minister of the Commonwealth, this being supplementary to other communications sent by the Department of Agriculture. In spite of all efforts,: however, the Australian authorities refused to remove their embargo, though an undertaking had been given oy the New Zealand Government that any form of inspection, no matter how rigid, desired by the Commonwealth authorities would be willingly carried out here over potatoes we ship. I may add that the matter has not been dropped, and I intend to again tako it up with the Commonwealth Government.”
