FRONTIERSMEN

ANNUAL CONFERENCE OF THE LEGION. (Per United Press Association.) NEW PLYMOUTH, June 23. The annual Dominion Conference of the Legion of Frontiersmen opened here today. There was a large attendance of delegates from the North Island. It was decided to invite General Sir Andrew Russell to become commander of the Legion. A remit that Maoris be eligible for membership was carried by 25 votes to 4. The conference decided unanimously to reinstate F. Kunmier, of Masterton. After a long discussion it was decided that the present uniform, with the addition of a Norfolk jacket, be adopted. To-night the delegates were the guests of the Taranaki squadron at a banquet.
