VAGRANT VERSE
THE MOVIE ACTOR. (Written for the Southland Times). His hair is wavy and his grin Is good for tender hearts to win, And all things fit him like his glov*. His eyes suggest serpent and dove. He rescues girls from cellars dark And flattens every crook and nark. And when he sees the tart he'd win He simply puts the hard word in. He bounds straight up and doesn’t care For either swank or stony stare, Nor does he groan when she explains Some other guy has held the reins. He says, ‘TU fix that smart galoot,** His automobile gives a toot, And off he swings to find the rook Has pulled her leg ’bout being shook. —Southerner. Invercargill, May 2.
