THE REPRESENTATIVE CRICKET TEAM.
To the Editor. ' ' Sir, —This team deserves a little attention. The leading teams. Wyndhom and Union, have only one representative each. How Jackson and H. Mcßeath were passed over is a mystery. Both should have been in any Southland representative £eam chosen. Both are promising players and should be given a show. Then James Gilbertson, captain. Oh, my hat! No, Jimmy! He may be worth a place, but he has no right to be captain. He has no idea ,of working or controlling His bowlers. He keeps them on far too long, and then generalship is impossible. I notice .T. Battersby has done himself justice—one of the emergencies in the meantime. —I am, etc., “OLD SPORT.”
