WEDDING BELLS
On December 10 a large gathering of relatives and friends gathered at the residence of Mr and Mrs D. Maider, of Kaihiku, on the occasion of the marriage of their driest daughter, Ellen Jane, to Frederick Leopold, second son of Mr and Mrs Aitken, of Waiwera. The bride, who was given away by her father, wore a beautiful dress of embroidered white silk trimmed with real lace, with the usual veil and orange blossoms. She carried a bouquet of white sweet fteas, arum lilies, and asparagus fern. She was attended by her sister, Peggy, as bridesmaid, attired in a pretty dress of pale blue crepe-dc-chine, and she carried a bouquet of pink sweet peas and asparagus fern. Her little sister, Eileen, acted as flower-girl, and was daintily dressed in white silk. The bridegroom was attended by Mr A. C. Broad as best man. The Rev Mr Mason, of Clinton, officiated. As the bride was led in “Lohengrin’s Bridal March” was played, and while the newly wedded pair were retiring, Mendelssohn’s Wedding March. Both were feelingly rendered by Miss Johnston, of Lumsden. After a sumptuous breakfast, and the usual toasts were honoured, the happy couple left by motor car for the south amid showers of confetti and good wishes. The bride looked charming in a travelling costume of navy blue, and wore a hat to match. The presents received wore numerous and costly, including several cheques.
