BON HOMME is a handsome brpwn horse, foaled in 1908, and bred by Mr S. Christensen, of San Francisco. Bon Voyage (3), 2.85, is considered one of the greatest sires of early and extreme speed in America. His progeny include: Bon Vivant (3) 2.105; Jean Val Jean (3) 2.10; Bon Guy (3) 2.115; Sweet Bow (2) 2.115; Voyager (3), trial 2.145; On Voyage (3), 2.25; and a number of other smart performers which are reducing their marks as time goes on. BON HOMME’S dam, Floradon, was by Atbadon (1), 2.27, holder of the world’s yearling trotting record when made. Athadon was by Matadon, 2.27, a son of tbs grandly-bred Geo. Wilkes stallion, Onward, 2.255, from Fanny Alley. Athadon’s was Athalie (dam of Athanio, 2.10; Ira, 2-.10J; Athadon (1), 2.27; Athio, 2.14; Athavis, 2.185; Athinx, 2.20). Bon Homme’s second dam, Flora C, 2.165, was by the famous trotting campaigner Dexter Prince, sire of 77 in 2.30, including Eleata, 2.85; Edith, 2.10; Prince Nutwood, 2.125; Charley Ford, 2.125; Lucratina, 2.135; seven sires of 22, and seventeen dams of 20 in the 2.30 list. Dexter Prince was by Kentucky Prince— Lady Dexter, by Hambletonian (10) Clara, one of America’s greatest brood mares, by American Star (14). The horses quoted throughout were square trotters, which enhances the times recorded in New Zealand eyes. From the foregoing it will be seen that Bon . Homme's pedigree combines the best and stoutest strains in the American Stud Book. He was never raced owing to an accident met with on landing in the Dominion. His stud career has, so far. been limited, but he has proved himself capable of getting suecessful stock, including Bon Ami, who won three races in succession. Bon Ami’s victories include a win in the Winton Trotting Cup. The stakes and opportunities for square-gaited trotters are being rapidly increased in New Zealand, hence this imported horse should be suitable for Southland breeders, as the home province bears a high reputation for producing and developing high-grade unhoppled performers. TERMS—£S 5/-; payable January 1, 1920. Paddocks provided for mares from a distance at 2/6 per week. All care taken but no responsibility. For extended pedigree see cards, Stud Book, or for further particulars apply Groom in Charge, or A. PETTIGREW, Oh 281 Woodlands,
