BURNSIDE SALEYARDS

DUNEDIN, August 20. At Burnside, 150 fat cattle were yarded and competition was keen. Prices were well up to late rates at the commencement and firmer towards the conclusion. Quotations: —Prime bullocks £25 5/- to £2B 12/6, medium to good £lB 10/- to £22, light and unfinished £ls to £l7 5/-; prime heifers £ls 10/- to £lB 15/-, medium to good £l2 15/- to £l4 15/-, light and aged £lO 10/to £ll 10/-.
Fat/Sheep—There were 1200 penned, but only a few. pens of prime heavy, the majority being of medium quality. .Prime advanced 5/-, medium about 2/6, and inferior 1/- to 1/6, compared with last week, but prices fell away somewhat towards the finish. Quotations —Extra prime wethers 65/- to 72/6, prime 55/- to 62/-, medium to good 46/6 to 52/-, light and unfinished 34/- to 38/-. Only a few pens of ewes were offered and realised 30/- to 37/9. Pigs—A small yarding met with a ready sale at an advance on late rates. ADDINGTON MARKETS. CHRISTCHURCH, August 20. The Addington market yardings of stock were not very large in any uepartment, except in fat sheep and stftre cattle, the latter showing a considerable increase over the sales for some weeks past. Store sheep, especially ewes and ewe hoggets, sold at an advance on late rates. Fat sheep were, of course, not up to the rates of the double market a fortnight ago, but sold at an advance on the prices ruling on July 30. The quality of tne yarding was, however, very moderate on the whole, a considerable proportion being unfinished. There was a further advance in the price of fat cattle, the proportion of really prime being small. There was only a limited demand lor store cattle and few sales were made at the auction, but some business was done privately in the better classes. Good dairy cows sold well, and there was a keen demand for the few vealers penned. Pigs of all classes sold well. Prices:—
Store Sheep—Two-tooth ewe? 30/2 to 38/-, four to six-1 ooth ewes to 36/6, four, six, and eight-tooth ewes 24/10 to 31/7, four and six-tooth wethers 32/8 to 34/10; six and eight-tooth wethers 33/3 to 34/6; ewe hoggets 32/6, wether hoggets 27/3, mixed sex hoggets 21/3 to 30/3. Fat Sheep—Prime wethers 50/- to 60/-, medium wethers 38/- to 49/6, unfinished wethers 31/3 to 37/6; extra prime ewes 53/-, prime ewes 38/- to 45/-, medium ewes 30/- to *37/6, unfinished ewes 23/6 to 29/-; hoggets 23/9 to 28/-. Fat Cattle—Extra prime steers to £32 15/-, prime steers £22 to £27 2/6, ordinary steers £lO 15/- to £2l 10/-; prime heifers £l4 to £l6 7/6, ordinary heifers £9 10/to £l3 10/-, extra prime cows £ls to £lB 15/-, ordinary cows i 9 10/- to £l4 10/-. Store Cattle—Three-year steers to £9 11/-, two-year steers £4 12/6 to £7 15/-; three-year heifers to £7, dry cows £4 12/6 and £7 15/-; dairy cows £8 to £l7 10/-. Pigs—Baconers £5 5/- to £8 15/-, equal to lOd to 104 d per lb; porkers £3 15/- to £5, equal to 1/- per lb; choppers £6 to £ll 17/6, medium stores £2 2/- to £3, smaller 32/- to £2, weaners 17/- to 27/-. BRITISH WOOL MARKET. LONDON, August 18. The Bradford market was quiet owing to the holiday. At the London sales competition was keen, all sections operating. Prices were firm all round.
