OLD WOMAN SHOT DEAD. HUSBAND SEVERED Y WOUNDED. STRANGE NATIVE ACCUSED OF DEED. (Per United Press Association). AUCKLAND, August 15. Meagre details of a tragedy which occurred at Oramahoe, near Ohaewai, were received by telegram by the Superintendent of Police to-night. The telegram stated that the victims were two old Maori people, a woman, Mereana Tokeoana, being shot dead and her husband, Kemaera Haratua, receiving one bullet in the breast and two in the left arm. :

The old man, who has been removed to the hospital, stated that at dusk on Thursday evening the barking of his dogs caused him to run outside the hut. A strange Maori, who was coming down the hill towards the hut, instantly shot at him and wounded him. The woman then came out of the hut and was shot dead.
