INFLUENZA EPIDEMIC
THE MANUKA. (Per United Press Association.) WELLINGTON, April 30. The Union Company hopes that the Manuka will berth on Monday and commence to discharge cargo. CASES IN NEW ZEALAND. (Per United Press Association.) CHRISTCHURCH, April 30. The Hon. G. W. Russell, Minister of Public Health, has received reports stating that from noon of April 24 to noon of April 28 cases of influenza were reported as follows; —In the Health District of Auckland 15, Wellington 13, Canterbury 9, Otago nil; total, 37. There are only four severe cases. One of these is at Whangarei, one at Rona Bay, Wellington, and two are in the Christchurch suburbs. POSITION BETTER IN SYDNEY. (By Telegraph.—Tress Assn.—Copyright.) SYDNEY. April 30. Received April 30, 10.30 p.m. There has been a considerable improvement in the epidemic during the past twenty-four hours, only seven deaths being recorded. Cessnock is isolated and the miners have resumed work, RACES AGAIN STOPPED. SYDNEY, April 30. Received May 1, 12.35 a.m. The Australian Jockey Club has postponed its Autumn meeting another week, to May 10.
