MINESWEEPERS' FUND
SECOND APPEAL.
The second appeal for warm woollen comforts for the minesweepers is now being made. Last year the W.C.T.U. of New Zealand was able through the generosity of friends and members to hand over to the British and Foreign Sailors’ Society, money and goods amounting in value to £1432 9/6 —£236 of which was subscribed in and around Invercargill. Unfortunately the need is still as great, if not greater than it was last year. We therefore appeal to the public again to prove their interest, admiration and willingness to help these brave and sorely tried sailor men, who, in the stormy and dangerous seas around England are ever on the alert to keep the way safe for troopship and cargo boat alike. Subscriptions will be received by and acknowledged in the Southland Times. The following amounts have been received:— Southland Frozen Meat Co., Ltd. £25 0 0 W. Macalister 7 7 0 John Taylor 5 5 0 John McQueen 5 00 Miss A. McLean 1 1 0
