The Trade Union Congress and Labour Party have sent a me-sage to the Russian people in which they state that by breaking off negotiations Russia risks the suppression of her newly-won freedom. The representatives ot organised Labour therefore proclaim that they hold identical aims with Russia and will accept no annexation? for the British Umpire. The message continues : “We respect the sovereign independence of the Turkish people in Constantinople, Thrace and Anatolia, but the British Government ha? justifiably pledged itself to the Arabs anti Jews. We accept the renunciation of annexation for tropical Africa and self-determination for India and the dependencies. Though the record of the British Government gives oc- j casion for but little reproach, and the I application of scll-deterrninat.ion will be difficult, our purpose is eventually to | raise these dependencies to the status of | dominions." j
