MAN’S LEG CRUSHED. (Per United Press Association.) HOKITIKA, January 16. A serious accident occurred on Stuart Chapman’s tram line at Ross this morning. Thomas Elcock, 60, was run over by a loaded truck and his right leg smashed to pulp below the knee. HORSE FALLS OVER CLIFF. Mr F. Parsons (Bluff) was the victim of a severe loss in the early part of last week. His son had taken a horse and dray round past Wood Point and while the driver web engaged in the bush near-by, the horse and cart went over a cliff at the spot striking the rocks nearly 60 feet below. The horse was killed instantly and the dray badly damaged. The animal must have slipped on the edge of the cliff while feeding. The driver heard the noise of the fall, but when he arrived promptly on the scene the home was dead. He secured the harness, however. and it. is possible to hoist the cart up to the road again if fit for repair.
