WOUNDED. MACHINE GUN CORPS. (December 31.) MOFFAT, NORMAN EDWIN (Mrs M. S. Moffat, Orawia, Southland; mother). ARTILLERY. (January 4.) WRIGHT, FRANK EDWARD (E. W. Wright, Yarrow street, Invercargill; father). RIFLE BRIGADE. (December 29.) LEPPER, ROBERT (D.C.M.), Sergt. (W. D. Lepper, Centre Bush, Southland). PRIVATE N. 0. MARSHALL. Private Norman Officer Marshall, wounded in the right arm on December 23rd, 1917, went with the 17th Reinforcements. He was bom at Wendonsidc 24 years ago and educated at the place of his birth. The fourth and youngest son of Mr and Mrs F. Marshall, of Wendonsidc, Norman is of a bright, cheery disposition, and well liked by all who know him. In pre-war days he was a farmer. 2nd LIEUTENANT MAGNUS FRASER. Word has just been received by his parents, Mr and Mrs M. Fraser, of Sydney street, North Invercargill, that 2nd Lieut. Magnus Fraser, previously reported dangerously wounded, has died of wounds. Lieut. Fraser was a native of Invercargill, and was educated at the North and Park schools. Before leaving with the 28th Reinforcements he was a building contractor. In his leisure hours he was an enthusiastic “footer” man, playing both for the Brittania and Celtic Clubs. He was also a keen volunteer and at the time of enlisting he held the rank of 2nd lieutenant in the Bth Southland regiment. PRIVATE J. H. RUSSELL. Another, member of the Waikiwi Football Club to be wounded is Private Jmaes Henry Russell, a 20th Reinforcement man. The wounded soldier, who is the son of Mrs J. Edwards, West Plains, was born at Omimi (Otago) and received his schooling at West Plains and Waikiwi. Previous to enlisting, on 24th August, 1916, he was a delivery man on Robertson Bros.’ Waikiwi milk run. PRIVATE H. HUNTER Mr Joseph Hunter (of Riverton) has received official word that his fifth son, Priv. H- Hunter, of the 28th Reinforcements, reported missing on 3rd December, is now reported killed in action. Mr Hunter has sent five sons to ihe front since the beginning of the war, of whom three have fallen. David and Walter were killed on Gallipoli, and John and William are now in France. Harry was a telegraph linesman when he enlisted. The greatest sympathy will be felt for Mr and Mrs Hunter in their loss.
