(Mrs Sparks, Dip ton, mother). 2nd LIEUT. H. NICOLSON. Second Lieut. Henry Nicoison, of whose wound on October 4 no particulars are yet to hand, was one of the few Main Body boys who entered the last advance without a previous wound mark, his only spell of hospital having been due to an attack of enteric. Lieut. Nicoison left Invercargill as a Platoon Sergeant, received his promotion to Sergt.-major on Gallipoli, and won his star before proceeding to France. He is a son of Mrs M. A. Nicoison and of the late J. W. Nicoison, of Leet street, Invercargill, in which town he was bom 25 years ago. A keen volunteer, Lieut. Nicoison joined the old Awarua Rifles soon after leaving school In his trade he was formerly with Mr A. M. Ayling as a cabinetmaker, and latterly with Mr W. Sapweil, builder. Lieut. Nicoison was a steward in the Don Street Church, was actively connected with the Christian Endeavour Society, and was for yean a member of the Don Street Young Men's Bible Class. PRIVATE W. H. BLANCH. Died of wounds on October 5: Private William Herbert Blanch. Private Blanch, who was 20 yean of age, was the son of the late John and Mrs Frances Blanch, of Drummond, where he was bom and educated. Prior to going into camp with the Twentieth he was a teamster in the employ of Mr W. £. Ward, of Drummond, and was serving in the Fourth Brigade when he fell Athletically he was a footballer and a racing cyclist, having ridden in good potations on the road. PRIVATE E. CURTIES. Private Eric thirties, who died of his wounds on October 5, was a member of the 23rd Reinforcement and a nephew of Mr C. E. Watts, Kelvin street, Invercargill. He commenced his education in London, the city of his birth, and continued it at the Southland Technical College. For a time he was engineering with Messrs Armour, Johnston and Co., but was later farming with Mr G. Cochrane at Tuatapere. LANCE-CORP. CECIL PRICE. Lance-corporal Cecil Price, reported to have died of wounds on October 5, was in his 21st year and was ji son of the late J. G. and Mrs Price, of A native of Invercargill, Lance-corporal Price was educated at the Park and Waitaki Boys’ High Schools and later entered the local branch of Bntterworth Bros. He was with the firm's Dunedin house when he enlisted in the Twenty-third.
