ENTERTAINMENTS

ALBION THEATRE. A large audience was present at the Albion last night. Anyone who argues that wanton misconduct should never be shown upon the screen, even if it is punished, should see “The Dark Road,” where a dangerous and seductive siren is shown at her game of ruining men. The retribution that comes upon her is so terrible, so complete and frightful, that for once evil seems to be satisfactorily avenged. Also good supports include “Pathe Gazette,” “A Journey to Nowhere,” comedy; “Some Pretty Species of Warblers,” Keystone comedy “A Bachelor’s Finish.” To-night will be the final screening. To-morrow a World’s Film drama, “The Divorce Game,” featuring Alice Brady, also 10th chapter of ‘The Iron Claw” (Living Death), will be screened. POPULAR PICTURE PALACE. “The Soul of a Magdalen,” the star feature of the current programme which will be screened to-night for the last time, is undoubtedly the finest picture in which the Russian actress, Olga Petrova, has had the opportunities of displaying her histrionic talents. The story is a powerful one, beautifully mounted and presented, and produced by a talented company of players. The supports are also worthy of the highest praise. To-morrow the usual change will be made, when the star item will be a thrilling drama of the present war ‘The Paws of the Bear,” featuring that favourite actor William Desmond. There are splendid supports, in addition to “The Secret of the Submarine,” the sensational film serial.
