DUNEDIN, September 5. At Burnside 231 fat cattle were yarded. Competition for well-finished bullocks was good at prices 15/- to 20/- above last week's rales. Light and medium cattle were in over supply, and prices showed no improvement. Best bullocks, £2O to £22 10/-; extra prime heavy, £23 to £26; medium, £lB to £2O; light and unfinished, £ls upwards; best cows, £l6 10/-; medium, £ll 10/- to £l3 10/-; others, £9 10/- upwards. Sheep.—33o7 penned, a very considerable proportion being light and unfinished wethers, which declined 1/- to 1/6. There was a small proportion of prime wethers, with a few pens of extra heavy, which sold at an advance on last week’s rates. Exporters are still off the market, and few graziers were present. Best wethers, 45/- to 50/-; a few extra prime heavy, 73/-; medium, 40/- to 45/-; light and unfinished. 36/- to 40/-; best heavy ewes, 42/- to 47/9; medium, 35/- to 40/-; light and unfinished, 27/6 upwards.
ADDINGTON MARKET. CHRISTCHURCH, September 5. At Addington market there were moderate yardings of almost all classes of stock, ami a large attendance of buyers. For store ■sheep and beef the market opened easier, but firmed up to last week’s prices. The yarding showed an increase in fat sheep, and the sale opened at about 1/- per head in advance of the previous week’s rates, but eased a little towards the end. There was a small entry of fat lambs, and only about one-half were sold. The others failed to reach the owners' value. Store sheep were in keeu demand, and prices were firm, hoggets showing a rise of about 1/- per head. Store cattle were in better demand, and all classes of pigs sold well. Store Sheep.—Sound-mouthed ewes to 32/6; two and four-tooth wethers, 25/9 to 36/11; four and six-tooth wethers, 26/3 to 39/-; six and eight-tooth wethers, 37/1 to 3S/1; ewe hoggets to 33/4; wether hoggets, 24/1 to 31/3; mixed sex hoggets, 27/6; new season’s lambs, 29/- to 33/-. Fat Sheep—Extra prime wethers to 55/9; prime wethers, 42/- to 50/-; lighter wethers, 36/1 to 41/-; prime merino wethers, 32/3 to 39/-; lighter merino wethers, 24/to 29/3; extra prime ewes, 48/-; prime ewes, 38/6 to 39/9; lighter ewes, 27/- to 38/-; hoggets, 25/3 to 33/6. Fat Cattle. —Prime steers, £l7 to £23 10/-; ordinary steers, £9 7/6 to £l6; extra prime cows to £2O 12/6; prime cows, £l3 to £l9; ordinary cows, £7 10/- to £l2; extra prime heifers, to £2O 15/-; prime heifers, £ll to £l4 10/-; ordinary heifers, £S 77/6 to £lO 10/-.
