HIGH COMMISSIONER’S CABLE. (Per United Press Association.) WELLINGTON, August 13. The High Commissioner’s market report, dated London, August 11 (quotations, unless otherwise specified, are for average market prices on spot) states;— Meat.—Heavy supplies. Inferior and medium grades are in poor demand and selling at comparatively low prices. Holders are anxious to sell before the Government regulations regarding maximum prices come into force. All descriptions of frozen meat continue in good demand. New Zealand mutton. Sid; ewe mutton, Sid; Australian mutton, lOd; Argentine mutton, lOd; Argentine lamb, lid. New Zealand beef, no supplies available; Argentine beef, quotations nominal, hinds 14d, fores 10»d. Butter. —The market continues firm. Ov. ing to the continued small supplies of Danish butter no supplies are available. New Zealand stocks are exhausted. Canadian and Irish creamery and Australian and Argentine arc all selling freely at the maximum prices of 200/-, anil unsaltcd butter 3/- more. Cheese. —The market continues firm. English cheddar, 132/-. A quantity of Australian, Canadian, New Zealand, and United States has been released by order of the Government at 130/S on condition that the retail price per lb must not exceed 3/4. Hemp. —In Manila hemp the market continues firm. The New Zealand market is quiet; shipment, £92; New Zealand highpoint fair, £9O; New Zealand fair, on spot, £9O; July-September shipment, £B9. The wheat market remains as last reported, it being (difficult to find buyers. Prices are unchanged.
