THE FARMERS' UNION.
To the Editor. Sir,—The next mooting of the Farmers’ Union will give that body a chance to show its hand, therefore it is tinnecessary lor me to say any more on that subject. Mr Wm. Ford’s reply of the sth inst. did not show what benefit tho small cocky has had Irom the. above Union, He mentions three reforms; Reduction on Fire Insurance premiums. Optional Land Tenure, Amended .Southland Drainage Act. What about manure, lime, roads, bridges and lots of other questions that would be of direct benefit to the small cockles and large ones too? Ho says he has enrolled three hundred members for the Union. How is it then that so few attend the meetings? There is something wrong somewhere, Mr ford, and I doubt the small cocky is not altogether to blame for not attending the meetings after he has become a member. This finishes mo for the. time being.—l am, etc,, SMALL COCKY. Woodlands, July 10.
