Deputy Chappe de Laine, who was sent on a mission to Salonika by the Foreign Affairs Committee, state® that if General Sarrail had had two more divisions when Monastir fell, he would have gone to Uskub, liberating half of Serbia and threatening the high road to Constantinople. However, a gigantic work had been accomplished. The enemy waa now reinforced. Pie urges that the blockade of the Otranto channel should be completed, and the road from Santl Quaranta to Monastir should be finished, thus enabling troops and material to be brought up most quickly. He concludes by saying that a tremendous task confronts the eastern army. EVACUATION OP TROOPS. SOME DEMANDS UNPUDPXXiDED. LONDON, March 8. Received March 8, 8.20 p.m. In the House of Commons Mr Balfour stated that the evacuation of troops and artillery from north Greece was proceeding satisfactorily, but certain demands had been unfulfilled. About 6000 regulars nad 3000 genedarmerie were still north of Peloponnesus. The Greek Government had released Venizelists and had promised to abandon proceedings against them.
