BELINSKY - AM ADIO.
ANOTHER GREAT CONCERT.
The Municipal Theatre was again well attended last evening on the occa_slon of the second concert given by the Selinsky-Amadio-Masson-Treweek quartette. The artists were once more in true highclass form, and the audience was again lavish in its applause of the soul-stirring items.
Mr Max Selinsky, the talented master violinist of the part met with an especially hearty reception, and every round of applause accorded him was thoroughly deserved. Mr Selinsky opened with the Mendelssohn Concerto in E minor, which he treated in rare style, and when he acknowledged the ovation given him with "Eegende” (Weiniawski), he but added further laurels to his brow. Mr Sellnsky’s programme items for the second half were “Souvenir de Moscow” (Wieniawski), “Orientale” (Cesar Cui) and "Love’s Joy” (Kreisler). Each of these beautiful compositions contains something by which the artistic merit of a player can easily be detected, but one might not think so to hear Mr Selinsky play them, since to his bow the melodies seem so easy and their expression so natural. So it is that the truly great violinist can be picked which proves th§ contention that Mr Selinsky ranks among the world’s best on the instrument. His second half encore number last evening was Obertass’ Mazurka (Weiniawski). Mr Jno. Armadio, on the flute, again captured his audience with his magnificent interpretation and perfect tone. Miss Elsy Treweek, the talented soprano of the party, was once more heard to the fullest advantage, and her rendering of Tosti’s “Good-bye” was splendid. Miss Jessie Masson, the brilliant pianiste, also met with a great reception, and her work was certainly of a special character.
In thanking the public for their patronage, Mr Jno. Amadio more than hinted at another visit in the near future, and the second call will be looked forward to with keen anticipation.
